So on to try out TypeIt4Me. TypeIt4Me is a System Preference Pane like TextExpander, while Texter and RapdioWrite are standalone applications. TypeIt4Me has two panes, the left pane lets you enter new clippings, while the right pane shows you the results of the clipping. TypeIt4Me does one thing I don’t think the other apps can do – it lets you specify what apps your shortcut works in. Let’s say you need your signature in email but that same set of characters happens to be a standing command in another app, then you wouldn’t want it globablly available to you. Just a simple click on the App symbol and you can choose the app to which you want to associate your shortcut. there’s also some options to change the behavior in specific applications. If you’re a true addict this could get really fun – and complicated to remember!

Adobe today announced Adobe Photoshop Express public beta, a
free Rich Internet Application (RIA) available to anyone who wants to
store, sort and show off digital photos with eye-catching effects.
During the public beta period, Adobe will solicit Photoshop Express user
feedback on product features and functionality, which will continue to
evolve over time. As the newest addition to the Photoshop family line,
Photoshop Express has taken much of Adobe’s best image editing
technology and made it simple and accessible to a new online audience.
Photoshop Express allows users to store up to 2 gigabytes of images
online for free, make edits to their photos, and share them online in
creative ways, including downloading and uploading photos from popular
social networking sites like Facebook.

It’s my Dad’s 90th birthday this week and after spending time working on a multimedia project for the party, I burned a DVD then got out the Sharpie Permanent Marker and wrote “90th Birthday Movie” on the disc.
It’s just such a weak link in the chain. You’ve drank endless cups of coffee, cleaned up the sound, picked out the perfect transitions, chosen the music, made those still images come to life with the “Ken Burns Effect” turning it into professional looking movie

When you open the A5 box, you have have a near-Apple experience. Each speaker is in its own cloth sack with a third sack holding a variety of connectors and wires insuring you will get it connected to something soon. The next thing you will notice after you open the box is that these speakers are heavy. The left speaker (with the built in amp) is 14 lbs and the right is 9. The materials in the speakers is 1″ thick medium density fiberboard and they have a high gloss piano finish that is very attractive. For guts, the A5′s have Kevlar woofers and the silk dome tweeters. Because they are magnetically shielded, you can use them next to your monitor but an iPhone will cause interference unless you put it into “Airplane Mode”.
This week we look at The ATV Flash, upgrade your Apple TV to where it should have been, Disc Cover, Typeit4me, the Audioengines A5 and much more. I want to thank you for downloading and listening to the podcast. We have the best in Mac hardware, software and websites reviews. We have a lot of [...]

The Apple TV Take 2 is an amazing little gadget, but it has some serious drawbacks. For the most-part, you still need to buy your movies and music in the iTunes Store before you watch them on your Apple TV. Many users feel we are paying for the “privilege” to purchase and rent movies from [...]

Hi folks, it’s time for another exciting episode of “Stump Podcaster Tim” and I’m your host, Allison Sheridan from the NosillaCast Podcast hosted at podfeet.com. This is the game where Allison tries to come up with a piece of freeware Tim has never reviewed AND has never heard of. Well this week I’m pretty sure we’ve got a winner, because one lucky Mac ReviewCast listener has joined up to help me. How could this listener be CERTAIN beyond any shadow of a doubt that Tim doesn’t know about this software? Well how about if the listener is the actual software developer?
The MacBook Air has now been in the wild for a few months and reviewed by just about every major technology journalist and pundit. So as I sit down to write this review I wonder what I could possibly add to the discussion. Maybe the answer is some perspective by someone who actually paid for it and has been using it, not for review purposes, but as a tool to get through my day.
Lets start with a few well-trodden points. I doubt there is any computer on the market that gives you less bang for the buck than the MacBook Air. For $1,800 you get 1.6 Ghz, 80 MB drive, and a single USB port. This is the least powerful laptop in the entire Apple lineup. In other words, if you choose your computer from a spreadsheet of features, move along, this is not computer you’re looking for. So is it overpriced and underpowered? I think that is a much more relative question than it initially appears.
I love role-playing games. My PC days gave me such memorable franchises as Ultima, Wizardry, Might and Magic, and many more. My Mac days have been somewhat quiet for RPG’s, the occasional Avernum, but nothing that I really sat down and sank my teeth into. That was until now. Welcome Neverwinter Nights 2 from Aspyr. [...]

I’ve been on a podcast free diet for the last few weeks. Yes, nil by ear.
You see my very expensive ear buds had to go back to the manufacturer for replacement under warranty. Not a problem, or so I thought. I’ll just dust off my regulation apple ear buds and use those for a few days. They’re about as much use a chocolate fire guard. I’d forgotten how bad those things are.
So I reluctantly put my iPod Touch on extended vacation and scratched my head. I needed to get some alternative entertainment for my daily commute and fast.
Now for Plan B. A book. Perfect. No batteries, small, light and portable!
So I trotted to my local library in search of something vaguely technological and hopefully Macintosh flavoured. I know what you’re thinking. What a cheapskate. But to be honest in the town where I live the local bookshops have an even worse selection of Mac tech titles than the library. Plus I was desperate!

When I was browsing through the photo books at Amazon.com, one book, Matt Kloskowski’s new book, “Layers,” the complete guide to Photoshop’s most powerful features, really jumped out at me so I clicked the buy button. That was easy. I am a sucker for any new photography book, you could say, I’m an easy sell.
