Today I am going to talk about something pretty uncommon: Invoicing.
Invoicing is probably one of the things you don’t want to do, and most of the Mac users probably never have to. But if you ever need something that will help you to create and manage invoices, you are going to love Invoice 3 from Kedisoft.

The first thing you see of Invoice 3 is its beautiful user interface you would never expect from an invoicing app. It is a native Cocoa application with the typical Mac look and feel.

This week I’m looking at, of all things, napping software. I have to admit, when I first heard about Pzizz, I was a bit skeptical. Sticking an audio file on my iPod that is supposed to help me get to sleep seemed like just a bit of mumbo jumbo. Nevertheless, there is no shortage of research concerning the benefits of napping so I decided to give Pzizz a try.

Pzizz installs as a simple application with up to three modules for an energizer nap, sleep, and meditation. The interface is simple to operate and could easily be managed by even the sleep deprived. The built in settings work just fine but you can add your own preferences. I’ll tell you more about that later. You can easily select your module, its length, and either play or export files to iTunes.

PDFs are great, they can be viewed on any platform. They look the same on any viewer and can (at least in OS X) easily be created using the print dialog. But there is one downside. They are not editable. Maybe not with Preview or Adobe Reader but with PDFPen you actually can.

So the game I’m looking at is Flick Bowling from Freeverse, and interestingly I think they might be bringing out a compilation of Flick games as once your into the main menu the heading says Flick Sports Bowling, so I’ll keep an eye open on that one.

As the name suggests, this is a bowling game, however I must quantify that as a bowling game, in the UK this could indicate Crown Green Bowling and I’m sure that are other Bowling games in the world that are not ten pin bowling, which of course this game is.

We’ve been covering Inquisitor, the Safari plug-in that makes searches more productive, for a long time. In fact, just last week on the MacReviewCast I reviewed it again. They now announced a plug-in for Firefox users. That is great news and since its freeware, you’ll want to check it out as soon as you can. Here is the announcement.

This App assists in the making of, well the best description I came across was textual graphics. You can create logo’s, web banners, headings and buttons, all of which you can use in Apples iWork and Microsoft’s office suit, or export in various formats the finished and what can very stylised products for inclusion into your web pages. This maybe for the graphical expert, which I certainly am not, but actually it is great fun creating art just for yourself.

Now I had Art Text V1.2.5, and to be honest we didn’t really get as much out of it as we should have done, and in reviewing version 2.0 I think I can understand why, now don’t get me wrong version 1 is a cracking product, but one of the biggest steps forward for the current version is the inclusion of layers into the program. Also one of the big changes compared to the earlier version is the different interface which gets you to the tools, templates and effects, well I think in a more intuitive way.

I wonder if you’ve ever wondered how all of Tim’s reviewers find the software they review. Sometimes we find stuff on our own that we want to review, but frequently Tim sends out an email asking if someone wants to review a given product. Usually it’s like throwing a ham sandwich into a piranha tank as the feeding frenzy to fight for the cool stuff starts.

The strangest thing happened recently though – Tim offered up some software and the boys were SCARED to test it! the software is called GiantCrayon Sudoku from the folks over at PocketMac. Well why the heck would the boys be chicken? Perhaps the explanation had something to do with it. Tim from Pocketmac says GiantCrayon Sudoku is the first tool to translate Mac users’ lifting and tilting their Macintosh notebook to move falling sudoku blocks into place.

Don’t they say an Englishman’s home is his Castle? Well, unfortunately over here at Chez Rolfe the builders have been in. So we moved out for a few days – to another castle. Yes we headed under the channel and across France to the Dream Castle. Yes, le house of mouse, was our new home for the next few days.

So what better device to entertain us on our trip? Of course my iPod Touch. Loaded up with a couple of cracking new apps. If you search for “Blackjack” on the iTunes App Store you will get a list as long as your arm of titles. We all know the basic idea behind Blackjack. Try and get “21″ or as close as possible with your hand of cards.

I don’t know why I happened to pick this particular incarnation but I’m so, so glad that I did. This has got to be one of the best applications that I’ve played so far. What makes this stand out for me is that it has been put together so well. The graphics are gorgeous. From the moodily lit table top, the brightly coloured chips and even the minute detail on the back of the cards.

It’s hard to believe that Adobe introduced its Acrobat product line way back in 1993. Since then the program has become a worldwide standard in formatting documents (pdf file format) for the web as well as in sharing documents for collaborative work. In fact, it’s hard to imagine the Internet world without Acrobat and pdf files. The pdf format allows you to read printed file formats without owning the program or the fonts that created the files.

Basically Acrobat comes in two flavors: The ubiquitous Acrobat Reader is free and simple to get as well as install. The Acrobat program which creates, edits and as well reads pdf files has grown to a very sophisticated and expensive tool.

My ability to resist information management programs ranks right down there with Homer Simpson’s ability to resist doughnuts. I just can’t help myself. As such, when Circus Ponies’ Notebook 3.0 recently released, I was first in line.
In case you haven’t heard of it, Notebook is … well … a virtual notebook. It creates a digital version of that spiral bound workhorse you grew up using. You can pick the kind of paper, the color, even the type of binding. In addition to this eye candy, Notebook does a lot of things your traditional paper notebook couldn’t. You can clip to your Notebook straight from the web. It also lets you easily create bulleted lists and outlines and links to you data such as address book contacts. You can mark up your pages with a tablet or highlight sections with the highlight tool.
