We’ve talked about FxFactory here before and several of the plug-ins and templates that go with it. Tokyo Split Screen Animator is a set of 19 templates designed exclusively for Final Cut Pro X users that work through FxFactory.
Once installed all you do is to pick one of the 19 templates from your FCP X Effects library and add it to your clip in the timeline. You just arrange your layout till it’s what you want and a menu will allow you to choose animation styles from any side or corner. I used the traditional layout styles, but anyone with more design sense then myself will love the fact that you can come up with your unique style and animations. Each template gives you precise control over everything from the direction and timing of the animations, to screen alignment, image offset, fade in and out, drop shadow, border and rounded corners.

I really liked the ability to change the direction from which the clips comes into frame, the ability to change the entrance and exit times, video positioning within the clip is also simple to change. Positioning clips in the movie is simple, as well. The ability to easily tweak the preset templates is also simple to understand and accomplish.
As with most of the FxFactory software, it’s much easier to show you what can be done then to try to explain it in an article. Please watch these two videos and you’ll see what a wonderful value Tokyo Split Animator is for $49.00.
