GLTerm
Nothing screams vintage computing quite like a green on black terminal screen. Even in the world of Apple, those early days were also often viewed through a term-like screen on the original Apple II computers.

So this is one of those supremely geeky but infinitely interesting pieces of software that makes you wonder why it was ever created in the first place. The folks over at LDOPA.net have posted a new application called GLTerminal which emulates a 1970’s terminal monitor, complete with flaws in brightness, warped display curvature, and flicker. It even simulates baud rate lag. And! for extra verisimilitude, the character colors can be green or amber. It really does need to be seen to be appreciated The site’s formal description says:

Download it today and play a nice game of chess with Professor Falken. NOTE: It’s slightly broken, but the members of that forum have been slowly, slowly fixing the app. In the version linked above, I fixed the key command for full-screen mode (I’ve set it to command-return), but to get GLTerminal working “correctly”, you’ll still have go to “Preferences” (under “Session”?), choose “Renderer” and then “Classic Terminal”.
