I’ve been a .Mac member for about 5 years now and use it for many daily activities but over the last year or so, many web based applications have come to offer similar (and often better) solutions for little or no cost.

Dave Caolo has written an interesting piece entitled .Mac’s slow death where he looks at the current state of .Mac and several online alternatives. A good read for existing and potential .Mac customers. Personally I’d love to see Apple revamp the service and wow us all over again but only time will tell.

One Response to “Is .Mac Dying?”

Apple started the .Mac project incorrectly, which in turn led to its demise. They started with the hook of it be free, and it then after they convinced enough people to invest time into it they turned on us and charged for the service. I do not mind being charged for a service; I do mind Apple being very disingenuous about the process. I left .Mac and never looked back. R.I.P.
