Last weekend was an exciting weekend for me. My last contract ran out on my iPhone 4 and I could finally purchase a new iPhone 5. (It’s these little Apple things in life that make me smile some days) . After picking up my new iPhone I had to find a case I liked. I [...]

Seriously, what did I really want for my iPad that I didn’t have? I wanted a combination case and external keyboard. I’ve been using the TouchType, a Kickstarter project I reviewed last month, but it uses my Apple Wireless Bluetooth keyboard and it was getting a little too bulky and heavy for me to carry [...]

When I finally was able to order my new Verizon iPhone 4 this spring, I wanted to try several cases and styles with my iPhone and see if I could actually choose one or two cases that would stand out above the rest. To this point, that has not been an easy task. The iPhone [...]

By James Hicks: Well, it seems like we’ve been waiting for the iPad case called the Quirky Cloak since day one when numerous sites hailed it as the “Best iPad Case†sight unseen. Is this the case (so to speak)? As I looked at the early iPad cases, any one I considered needed to function [...]
Lets start this review out by saying that when anyone asks my opinion on bags, whether they are laptop bags, messenger bags, carry-on bags or briefcases, I always tell them that the best high-end bags made are from Tom Bihn. Over five years ago I received my first Tom Bihn bag, the Empire Builder. It’s [...]
Four years ago, when I still had my old TiBook G4, I reviewed a laptop briefcase from a Seattle company called Tom Bihn at TomBihn.com. It was the Empire Builder. I loved that briefcase, it went to the office with me everyday and still looks new. There were no rips, tears, or broken zippers. The [...]
Well, I’ve had my new, beautiful, shiny, black iPhone almost a month now and I’m thoroughly enjoying all the new features I now have available at my fingertips on plane, train or automobile! And that device is the reason that I’m writing this today. How do I keep my iPhone looking, new, beautiful, shiny and black?
Some people may turn their noses up at covering up such a beautiful device. But for me it’s a no brainer. Considering that I have a small child charging about the house and that it will be travelling with me, I felt it deserved that extra, little bit of protection.
If you listen to the MacReviewCast you will know that I recently discussed with Tim the purchase of a case for the iPhone that I was planning. Fundamentally I am not a fan of cases for phones, in particular the iPhone as it is such a well designed device that I can’t really see the point of hiding it away in a case.

Remember when the iPhone first released and there were just 3 cases on the market? Well that was eight months ago and now there are more like 3,000 cases on the market. To be honest I had little interest in any of them. I have an invisible shield on my phone (although I’m often tempted to remove that as well) and that is it. It works fine. Fits in my pocket and gives me no troubles.
I must admit however that I was very intrigued by the products offered by OtterBox. They specialize in cases that are more functional than pretty. Put simply, Otterbox is in the protection business.
