This is the second in my series on Learning OmniFocus. In my first blog post I blamed all this OmniFocus love in the Mac community on people like David Sparks that have been preaching the benefits of an OmniFocus workflow for over the last year. I finally relented and decided to jump in with both [...]

As an old Saturday morning cartoon character I loved would say, “That’s all I can standz, I can standz no more”. That is exactly what happened to me this week when it came to my old friend David Sparks and his endless infatuation with Omnigroup’s GTD application, OmniFocus. I’ve been listening to David’s podcasts and [...]

The Omnigroup is generously donating a copy of their well-known GTD application OmniFocus, along with a gift certificate to the iPhone app of the same name.

OmniFocus works great as a Getting Things Done trusted system but can also be used to fit other task management styles. You can add or hide features such as start and due dates, time estimates and task recurrence based on how you manage your tasks. With the Perspectives feature you can easily restore customizations with the click of a button.

The Omni Group has released four of their software applications as freeware: OmniWeb, OmniDazzle, OmniDiskSweeper, and OmniObjectMeter. All versions are fully functional with no licensing restrictions, and are available at no cost from The Omni Group’s website at http://www.omnigroup.com.

“As a small company with limited resources, we have had to make some difficult decisions about where to focus our attention as our business continues to grow,” said Ken Case, CEO of the Omni Group. “By making these applications — which are not currently under active development — available as free downloads, we hope that more people are able to enjoy using them without the barrier of cost.”

If you talk Microspeak, it is similar to Visio. Using the application’s built in stencil library, it becomes stupid-easy to quickly assemble very attractive charts and diagrams that can be used on their own or exported into documents and presentations.

The new version 5 has a new interface that feels better to me. It is more consistent with the general interface guidelines you see in Leopard applications and gets rid of the drawer that was in Version 4.
